President and Chief Executive Officer
In 1973, Bob Frey began his career in trust banking at the Old Colony Trust Division of the First National Bank of Boston. Seeing opportunity for career growth in the division, he stayed with the company through various mergers, acquisitions and name changes before retiring from BankBoston in 1999. At that time, Bob was the Chief Fiduciary Officer for the Corporation with responsibility for the bank’s global fiduciary activities.
Following his retirement, Bob founded Family Capital Trust Company which operates according to values and philosophies that helped Old Colony Trust Company become the pre-eminent fiduciary services business in Boston.
His education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Villanova University, a Master of Arts degree in English from Northeastern University as well as degrees from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Executive Management and the National Graduate Trust School.
Director of Personal Trust
Letitia was one of the founding members of Family Capital Trust Company when the company was started in 1999. She was instrumental in designing the delivery of all client services, operations and tax functions as Family Capital evolved. Now, as Director of Personal Trust, she continues to be accountable for providing trust services and sits on the company’s Board of Directors and its Investment Committee.
Letitia began her career in the trust business in 1986 at Bank of Boston where she spent 14 years. She achieved the rank of Senior Trust Officer and a Director of the Private Bank. Letitia worked with some of the company’s largest and most complex family groups providing them with a high level of administrative service to meet their trust and personal financial needs.
She graduated with a BS in Business Economics from Alfred University and attended Northwestern’ s National Trust and Graduate Trust Schools. She is a member of the Boston Estate Planning Council, the Essex County Estate Planning Council and serves on the Board of Directors for Hussey Seating Company.
Chief of Accounting, Compliance and Risk Management
Carolyn joined Family Capital in 2001 as the finance and HR director for the Company. She brings over 30 years of accounting experience to the firm along with experience in the legal, software and finance fields. In 2011, she earned the title of Certified Fiduciary and Investment Risk Specialist. At that time she was appointed Director of Compliance and Risk Management at FCTC. Carolyn works closely with the President of FCTC on all financial functions and acts as the liaison for all financial, fiduciary and regulatory audits along with interfacing with the company’s IT and HR vendors.
Her education includes a BS in English from Central Connecticut State University, an MBA from Babson College as well as a paralegal certification from Bentley University and fiduciary and investment risk certification from Cannon Financial Institute.
Chief Operations Officer
Judy joined Family Capital in 2011 to manage all the Company’s activities relating to trust operations and trust systems. She started her banking career in 1975 gaining experience working for several Boston financial organizations and most recently with Beverly National Bank.
She works closely with the Family Capital staff, trust vendors and clients ensuring the fluidity and accuracy of daily operations while overseeing the day to day securities processing activities. She also provides the necessary operations training to the support staff. Judy is the liaison with various providers of trust services including the company’s trust accounting system.
Judy is an active volunteer with Care Dimensions (formerly Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston). Most recently, she served as co-chairman of the Annual Walk for Hospice. She attended the New England School of Banking at Williams College and is a member of the Essex County Estate Planning Council.
Deb joined Family Capital in 2012 providing support to all members of Family Capital. For many of the company’s clients, she is the principal liaison to the Management Team excelling in her responsiveness to the needs of the Company’s customers.
Following her graduation from Lesley University with a BS in business administration, her administrative skills were refined over 20 years spent in the high-tech industry working in marketing, engineering, human resources and executive environs. In addition, she founded and ran her wholesale business for 10 years on the North Shore. This experience gave her a wealth of business acumen and, most importantly, an appreciation for the value of client relationships.
Trust Administrator and Operations Associate
Susan joined Family Capital in June, 2014. Coming from Granite Savings Bank, Susan brings over 20 years of banking experience to the firm. At Family Capital she supports the Chief of Operations with the day-to-day activities of processing disbursements and security transactions and posting all investment account activity. Susan also provides administrative support to the President and Director of Personal Trust in meeting the trust clients’ needs and requests.
Susan graduated from Anna Maria College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
